Meet the founders
Francesca
Ciao! I am Francesca, a traveler and adventure lover from Italy. As far as I remember, I have always loved travelling and exploring new places. While for many the unknown can be terrifying, for me it’s something I chase and look for with my travels. I love not knowing what’s coming and see what happens.
No need to say I am incredibly happy with where life took me: living in Mexico and building my dream life with the man I love by my side. I could never imagine that one day I would turn my passions into my job and I couldn’t be more excited to share them with you!
Alberto
Hola! I’m Alberto, one half of the passionate duo behind Alma Libre. I was raised in the beautiful Yucatán, where my love for exploration and adventure began. Growing up, I spent countless hours discovering the hidden gems of this region, specially cenotes.
Freediving has always been more than just a sport to me; it’s a way to connect deeply with nature and find inner peace. It makes me so happy to be able to share this passion and knowledge as a freediving instructor with other adventurers and beautiful souls.

Our story
It all started November 2019 when a friend invited Francesca to a cenote to try freediving for the first time. It was only a month after Francesca arrived to Mexico. That day she met Alberto and without them knowing, their lives were about to change forever. A spark ignited, not just for freediving, but for each other. After that first meeting, things moved pretty quickly as they decided to be a couple after a camping weekend at the same cenote they first met. In no time, they decided to move in together. And guess what? the pandemic arrived. Many things could go wrong when you are stuck at home with someone who don’t really know. Surprisingly, things went incredibly well. So well they got engaged a year later.
In January 2021, Alberto proposed to Francesca in a very special way: he hid a ring under a rock at the bottom of that same cenote where they met for the first time. A few months later, they celebrated their love with a beautiful wedding in Mexico followed by another special wedding in Italy.
The rest is history. They got more and more into freediving and underwater photography. They traveled around the world and experienced so many things always doing what they love together. In October 2023, they decided to go all-in with this amazing project called Alma Libre, where they can be 100% themselves, sharing their love and passion with the world.
