Highlights

Itinerary

DAY 1

After a delicious breakfast in Merida, we will head to our first cenote. The first day is all about enjoying the beauty of these unique places. We will have a great time freediving, fundiving, and taking amazing photos. After the first cenote, we will head to our second cenote of the day for a delicious homemade lunch by a Mayan family. After lunch, it’s time to set up the camp and relax. A beautiful night dive and a dinner around the bonfire will be waiting for us.

DAY 2

Wake up full of energy to enjoy another beautiful day. No better way to wake up than with a jump in the cenote. Enjoy the calm of an early morning and the peace around you. We will spend the morning swimming and diving in the cenote, playing in the amazing rays of light. This is the moment to take incredible photos and videos in the most unique scenery. Once we are all hungry, we will enjoy another delicious lunch at the house of the Mayan family. After this, we will visit a very nice hacienda in the village before getting back to the campsite and rest. Get ready for a special night. More night dives and lots of fun around the bonfire!

DAY 3

Enjoy a delicious breakfast and a slow morning. This day is all about taking it slow and appreciating the surroundings. Take time to process everything you have experienced. You can chill in a hammock, do some yoga, read, journal, go for a swim, or engage in deep conversations. After an amazing morning, we will pack everything up and we will head to our last cenote for some fun: get ready to jump and be a child again! A delicious lunch next to the cenote will be the best way to end our amazing trip before heading back to Mérida.

keep in mind

This adventure has been designed to offer you the best camping experience. This trip is made for people who love being in nature and can easily adapt to different environments and situations.

At our campsite, we will have toilets available with buckets of water to flush them. There are no showers, but who needs to shower when you can use the sacred water of the cenote?

We will be disconnected. This means no signal and no electricity. We want you to be present and forget about your phone for 3 days. It’s amazing how good it feels and how deeply you can connect with the people around you. You will have the chance to charge your devices during lunch on the second day. Bring a power bank and extra batteries.

Camping in the wild takes a lot of work and preparation. We kindly ask you to cooperate and be part of the team. You will be setting up your own tent together with your camping partner and we will be cooking breakfast and dinner together. Any help is highly appreciated and it makes the experience so much better when we are working together.

Remember: this is an adventure! We will be dirty, there will be mosquitos and insects but nothing is stopping us from having the best experience ever! Get ready to create life-lasting memories.

What our guests are saying

Calendar

To ensure a better experience to our guests, the Cenote Camp Adventure is available from  November to April.

We will only host few cenote camps per year and spots are limited. Make sure your are planning in advance so you don’t miss it!

During these months we will have nice dry sunny days and amazing blue light beams in the cenotes: the best combo for amazing photos. During the night we will enjoy cool temperatures to comfortably sleep in our tents.

The temperature of the cenotes remains constant throughout the year with a temperature around 26-27 °C that allows us to have pleasant diving sessions.

 FAQs

  • The experience starts from Mérida, the capital of Yucatán: a beautiful colonial city famous for its picturesque city center, colonial arquitecture and colourful houses. You can reach Mérida with domestic flights or by bus.

As we will be meeting early on day 1 and we will be arriving late afternoon on day 3, we highly suggest you arrive in Mérida the night before the camp and you stay an extra night.

We have partnered with Casa Encuentro Hostel to offer our guests a 20% discount. The hostel is 5 minutes walk from the meeting point. You can book the hostel here.

  • The experience starts in Mérida, Yucatán. We will meet at 8 AM at Flores Café to enjoy a delicious breakfast together before heading out to our first cenote.

  • We will be back in Mérida around 5:30 pm on day 3. If you need to travel the same day we suggest not to book your flight or bus before 8:00 pm.

  • Of course! This is a great experience for solo travellers! You will meet like-minded people and we'll have an amazing time!

This trip is for everyone! Whether you are travelling by yourself, with your partner or with a friend, we guarantee this will be a once in a lifetime experience!

  • No, we provide all the camping equipment to make sure you have the best experience. You don't need to think about anything!

We will send you a packing list before the camp to make sure you are ready for the adventure!

  • We will have basic toilets available with buckets of water to flush them. There are no showers, but who needs to shower when you can use the sacred water of the cenote?

  • Yes! Please bring your own equipment if you have it. We will need mask, snorkel and fins. Wetsuit is recommended but not necessary. The water is around 27° C. We do recommend wearing a wetsuit on longer freediving sessions but for fun dives and pictures a swimsuit is enough if you don't get cold too easily.

  • We won't have electricity at the camp. You will be able to charge your devices on the second day at the house of the Mayan family. Make sure to bring extra batteries for your cameras and a power bank with you. We will also have a big power bank you can use!

We won't have any signal once we get to the cenotes. The idea of this experience is to leave the phone behind and really disconnect from the world for just a couple of days. It's incredible how good it feels and how stronger our connections are with others when phones are not in the way!

  • We did have some cenote camps where we combined the camping experience with the wave 1 certification course with an extra fee. If you are interested, please let us know and we will do our best to make it possible.

  • No problems! Just let us know and we will prepare delicious food for you. Tasty vegan and vegetarian options are available.

  • We will be camping, so of course this means being in nature and exposed to mosquitos and other insects.

During the winter months the mosquito situation is actually quite good. They do get more intense during sunset but it doesn't last long. Mosquito repellent will be available at the camp.
